ONLINE COUNSELING
Overview
Also known as e-therapy and internet counseling, online counseling is similar to individual counseling, but rather than meet with your therapist in person, you will meet online through a video conference.
Who it can help
Online counseling is a great option if things like transportation, weather conditions, distance, family care responsibilities, and other psycho-social barriers make it difficult for you to meet in a traditional counseling setting.
What you’ll experience
Your therapist will provide you with a link to a secure video chat service. Here, you will engage in typical therapeutic practices that can help you improve your overall quality of life, increase positive thinking, improve how you handle relationships, or learn to face difficult mental challenges.
Additional information
Online counseling is available only with the consent of the therapist. Not all therapists offer online counseling. Online counseling may not be appropriate for those who have concerns over the risks of internet counseling, those with active suicidal/homicidal thoughts, and those who are experiencing active manic/psychotic symptoms. Our therapists will only offer online counseling if you are legally in a position to consent to receive mental health services. Online counseling will not be available if you are under 18 or have a legally appointed guardian.
Your therapist will maintain records of online counseling services. These records can include reference notes, copies of transcripts of chat and internet communication and session summaries. These records are confidential and will be maintained for seven years as required by applicable legal and ethical standards according to the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Workers, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board. You will be asked in advance for permission before any audio or video recording will occur on the counselor’s end.
You must have a permanent address in Ohio or Georgia in order to be eligible for therapeutic services.
Therapists might not immediately receive an online communication and technology services used for online sessions may be delayed for failure. If you are in a state of crisis or emergency in these instances, you may utilize the following crisis hotlines:
- 1-800-SUICIDE
- 1-800-273-TALK
- 1-800-799-4TTY (for hearing impaired individuals)

SELF-ESTEEM BUILDING
Overview
Self-esteem reflects what we think about ourselves. Self-esteem has a significant prospective impact on our life experiences and not the reverse. In other words, high and low self-esteem is not dependent on our success or failure. Self-esteem affects how we think, feel, and behave. It impacts our relationships with others and our relationship with ourselves.
Self-esteem can fluctuate. When we are ill or suffer a loss, such as unemployment or a divorce, we can feel down about ourselves. However, people with healthy self-esteem are resilient and rebound to think positively about themselves and their future. On the other hand, low self-esteem can make it hard to cope with life’s challenges and is a risk factor in depression.
Self-esteem influences just about every facet of our lives. Self-esteem affects how we value and communicate our needs, thoughts, and feelings and underpins personal integrity and our ability to pursue goals. It determines our sense of well-being, how we parent, our success in the workplace, and relationship satisfaction. Pervasively poor self-esteem can lead to depression and anxiety and have other psychological or emotional implications.
Who it can help
Self-Esteem building help those who constantly has the narrative “I am too much for people” in their mind, so everything and anything that happens in their life gets filtered through this narrative.
By recognizing this narrative, or unhelpful thought pattern, one is slowly starting to realize how much this negatively impacts you at work and in your relationships. A person can completely become overwhelmed by daily tasks because they are so afraid of asking for help.
When changing the thought “I am too much for people” to “If I don’t start asking for help, my needs could become too much for me to handle and I will explode,” which is helping you to make small changes in your day-to-day life and get support from people who would be happy to help you.
What you’ll experience
Through therapy we would help you address the roots of these issues and boost your sense of self-worth. We will help you identify and understand the source(s) of low self-esteem, process past negative experiences in a safe, nurturing space, learn to recognize critical voices that are not your own, and help you notice “all or nothing” thinking patterns. When treating low self-esteem there are two major approaches and they are psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). These two approaches give a positive outcome for a healthier life.

Formally called domestic violence, this is programming that addresses relational abuse.
SPIRITUAL/FAITH-BASED COUNSELING
Overview
Faith-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (often referred to as Christian counseling or biblical counseling), begins in our mission statement: “transforming lives through culturally competent, spiritually sensitive, and trauma informed counseling services.” The key word is “sensitive”.
Who it can help
Though we believe in the restorative power of the Bible, we understand not everyone believes the same. Therefore, when therapeutically indicated and always with sensitivity and respect to your cultural and spiritual beliefs, our staff are skilled in integrating faith-based principles, Biblical counseling, and prayer in conjunction with standard therapeutic processes.
What you’ll experience
In any faith-based intervention, we are always respectful of your self-determination and your current relationship to your expressed faith tradition. Faith-based interventions always yield to your consent and comfort level, and whether to incorporate and utilize the resources from your faith tradition and your faith community during the course of treatment. If you are interested in faith-based therapy, be sure to speak with your therapist about this or let us know when you schedule.
